Homelessness and mental health issues
Mental health issues and homelessness can form a vicious cycle which is hard to break out of. A study by the London homelessness charity St Mungo’s found that 40% of homeless people have a mental health problem.
The ‘revolving door’
Some people with mental health issues face a ‘revolving door’ situation, finding themselves homeless regularly throughout their lifetime. This is usually because they do not have the skills or support that they need to both maintain a home and manage their condition.
The Society of St James and mental health issues
The Society of St James’ Mental Health Service helps people with mental health issues to find and maintain accommodation with the level of support that they need.
