Current Opportunities

End Youth Homelessness Sleep OutNovember 11th – End Youth Homelessness Sleep Out

SSJ’s End Youth Homelessness Sleep Out is taking place in Southampton on Friday 11th November.  Last year this sponsored event raised £16,500 towards our work with young people in Hampshire who are facing homelessness, enabling us to offer accommodation alongside specialised support to help these vulnerable young people out of the damaging cycle of homelessness.

We are looking for local businesses to sponsor this event, to cover the event costs such as equipment hire, security etc. Please get in contact if you would like to sponsor elements of our SleepOut event.

Alternatively, if your staff love a challenge- we would love you to enter a team and come along on the evening!  The event does not claim to replicate homelessness, but does hope to give you a taste of what it’s like for the 83,000 young people in the UK who have no safe sleep place to sleep this evening.  We provide the food and entertainment, all you have to do is turn up and sleep! We ask that every person aims to raise £250 sponsorship, or £1000 per 5 people in a team.  By entering a team into SleepOut you could make a real difference to local young people facing homelessness.

homeless christmas dinnerDecember 2016 – GiveAMeal & Shoebox Gift Appeal

Every Christmas we ask that local individuals, organisations and business consider the homeless people we support, by making a donation to help us to provide a full Christmas Roast Dinner with all the trimmings.  It costs around £10 to provide a meal for someone in our accommodation and we would love to be considered for any festive fundraising you or your business may be undertaking.  Over the last few years, the Christmas GiveADinner campaign has had a very positive impact on the service users in our supported accommodation and has really made a difference to their Christmas.

A really easy way to support us is to book any Christmas celebrations with a participating restaurant at ChariTable bookings, select SSJ as your beneficiary charity and we receive £1 for every diner- at no cost to you!

This year will also see the return of our Shoebox Appeal.  If you would rather collect items as gifts, rather than money- then this is one way you can ensure that local, disadvantaged people will have a very merry Christmas.  We will also be looking for various collection points around Hampshire- if your business would like to explore how to get involved, please complete the form on the bottom of this page.

More information on both these appeals will be released later in the year

And on into 2017…

45 birthday year - business help2017 is going to be a very exciting year for SSJ as we head into our 45 year anniversary.

We are looking for businesses, organisations and individuals to take up the SSJ Challenge and aim to raise us £1000 as a birthday gift, over the course of the year.  If you are looking for a business to support throughout 2017 then please consider SSJ and the difference your donation could make to the 3,000 people we support throughout the County, daily, who are vulnerable to homelessness.

We can help you with discounted entry to events such as the Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k, we can help you set up your own events and challenges and we are more than happy to come and visit you, talk about how you can help us and give you more information about SSJ and our work with disadvantaged people in Southampton, Portsmouth and wider Hampshire.

Any way that you can help will make a difference to the local people that we support.

IR 14-15Publications – IMPACT Report & Newsletter
