You’ll know by now that we’re taking a group of intrepid explorers to trek the Himalayas in May 2013, all in the name of fundraising to support homeless people here in Hampshire.
In order to participate in this amazing opportunity, trekkers are committing to raise in excess of £3000 each.
Many of the group are self-funding the cost of the trip itself so that all of their fundraised funds make it to where they are most needed – supporting homeless people in Hampshire!
Fundraising for a charity challenge of this nature can be the most off-putting obstacle standing in the way of people signing up to participate. With that in mind, I recently asked my trekkers how they were raising their funds …
Here are their top 5 projects:
- A Bollywood theme night in Southampton restaurant; P.O.S.H with DJ and Bollywood Dancers.
£20/ticket, £5 goes into the trek fundraising.
- Local bars/eateries holding collection containers on bars for specific trekkers.
- An 80s style disco.
- Seasonal raffles with exclusive, high-end prizes from Hampshire based Spa Days to designer jewellery
- Sponsored 10k runs, 1/2 marathon walks and abstinence of alcohol, cigarettes, and in one case …
all animal products!
I provide trekkers with existing fundraising ideas to work from, but these guys are going above and beyond in terms of their creativity, their passion, and their sense of fun. They are all set to become successful fundraisers!
