Why Don’t You …
Just switch off your television set and go and do something less boring instead?
… Was the title of the Southampton, Sofa City Bands Collective’s charity gig for the Society of St James and Jail Guitar Doors on Friday evening.
The Society of St James were thrilled, once again, to be one of the beneficiaries of a Spiraltones inspired charity gig. The Spiraltones’ front man, Colin McAllister, has a heart for people, a passion for performance and an unrivaled love of the ukulele.
The Spiraltones put together the elaborate gig during which 11 ‘Sofa City Bands Collective’ bands performed TV theme tunes and so much more.
The Talking Heads played host to this magnificent multi-band extravaganza, Unit 11 Studios’ Sarah Filmer manufactured a retro TV set stage, and the marvellous Catherine Wright (of Hepwrights Original Vintage) played compere for the evening.

“i’m only just recovering from the excitement of seeing Katie Jean Howe and Jack McAllister Bidmead!! the bands were brilliant, Catherine Wright was brilliant, the set built by Sarah Filmer and Adam Barnes was brilliant and Colin McAllister…. what can i say? erm…. brilliant??

All told, it was a fun evening of eclectic musical entertainment with the added bonus of The Society of St James coming away £150 up.
The Spiraltones certainly put the fun into fundraising!
