Fundraising Events
Why not hold a fundraising event for the Society of St James? Holding your own event can be a rewarding challenge, it is also a lot of fun, and the fundraising team will be on hand to offer you advice and support every step of the way.
Our supporters have already held a variety of wonderful events, from sponsored yoga sessions to music nights, and cake tasting days to speed dating evenings. So get creative, raise vital funds for our work, and most importantly, have fun!
If you’d like support in organising an event, please fill in the contact form and select ‘fundraising’ in the subject menu.
See our ‘Get Involved’ pages to have a peek at what we’re up to and find out if there is anything in there that tickles your fancy.
Schools
Even from a surprisingly young age, children show an interest in helping those less fortunate than themselves. We prefer to support schools with their fundraising and love to participate in their Harvest assemblies or go and present certificates to reward children’s efforts. Two of our interactions with schools can be found over on our blog here and here. Both of them made a profound difference to our clients.
From 4-16 the activites that children and young people could engage themselves in will vary greatly, we love to hear all of your ideas and do all we can to support your events.
Primary schools are great venues for cake sales, collections of donated foodstuffs and toiletries at key times like harvest and Christmas, and sponsored events like sleepovers (in the school hall) and walks. We hold an annual ONE BIG Sleepout event so you can come to us for everything you need to put on a school hall sleepover.
Secondary schools can offer their pupils more autonomy, how about car washing days, putting on a play or pantomime with a raffle draw during the interval, IT based challenges like ‘gaming’ relays, sponsored sporting challenges, the world is your oyster.
Community Groups
Community groups from Beaver Scouts to Youth Clubs, Girl Guides to Craft Groups, Yoga Classes to Church Clubs have all supported us over the years.
A stitch along, a craft sale, art exhibition with auction, a cycle challenge, join in with our ONE BIG Sleepout event? How about a golf day for us or a charity football tournament? You really are limited only by your imagination with these great ways to raise funds for our work whilst having fun.
Whatever you decide to do let us know and we will be happy to help with promotion for your event.
Businesses
Hampshire is a hotbed for creative business.
There are a variety of ways that businesses can involve themselves in fundraising activity from signing up to payroll giving to team building days.
Many businesses choose to select a ‘charity of the year’ who will be the beneficiaries of all of their annual efforts.
