Stable and secure housing is an essential part of recovery for drug users, but because there is such demand for housing it cannot be met by the social sector alone. Jigsaw Housing Support works in partnership with the private rented sector, working with landlords to provide sustainable accommodation for people who are supported by the Hampshire Integrated Offender Management service.
Jigsaw helps people to set up housing benefit claims, provides them with pre-tenancy training about their responsibilities, offers a rent deposit guarantee to the landlord, and offers ongoing support to the landlord and tenant to enable the tenancy to continue successfully.
Jigsaw Plus, funded by the Crisis PRS Access Development Programme, helps people who have been convicted of a criminal offence in the last two years and are facing homelessness to find private rented accommodation. Unlike Jigsaw, Jigsaw Plus will work with people who are not supported by Hampshire Integrated Offender Management.
Jigsaw Plus offers a rent deposit guarantee to the landlord and provides the tenant with benefit advice, support in making benefit claims, help with budgeting skills. We also liaise with the landlord on the tenant’s behalf.
People are referred to Jigsaw Plus by the housing departments of Hart District Council, Eastleigh Borough Council, East Hants District Council, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council , Rushmoor Borough Council, Winchester City Council, and Test Valley Borough Council.
