Bridge2Volunteering

The Bridge2Volunteering Program (B2V) is a volunteering project for ex-service users based within The Tier 2 Bridge Open Access Drug Service. This project trains and develops the skills of ex-drug and alcohol users to engage with people who drop into our open access drug service, acting as the first point of contact for those who are looking for treatment and support.

The underlying principle of this project is to reduce the harm of substance misuse to service users, their families and the local community. This project has been very successful and last year trained and worked with over 40 volunteers, with 26 volunteering at least once a week. In total the volunteers have contributed over 21,000 hours over the last 3 years and we have seen 16% of the volunteers gaining full time employment and a further 15% take on part time work. The main duties of the volunteers include: engaging new service users, answering the phones, admin work, facilitating groups and supporting the staff.
