The SHARP Team
SHARP provides a comprehensive harm reduction service for drug users in Southampton. The service offers advice to drug users, a needle exchange, specialist nurse support, and referrals to other treatment services.
The service includes:-
- Advice to drug users (including non intravenous users) on all aspects of their drug use
- Provision of sterile injecting equipment across Southampton including Pharmacies, satellites and Mobile services
- Specialist Nurse Support, including wound care and comprehensive health assessments
- Referrals to further treatment services (including HIV and Hepatitis B and C testing and inoculation).
The SHARP Office
The service also provides an assertive outreach service to support people who are concerned by their own or someone else’s drug use. Workers can arrange appointments away from drug services, in any appropriate venue, including people’s homes.
We run SHARP in partnership with Hampshire Partnership NHS trust.
