Portswood Flats

The Housing Management Team manages and maintains the Society of St James’s flats, designated shared housing schemes, and hostels.

The service was established at the beginning of 2008 in response to changes in the way that the our housing services were contracted with Supporting People. The new contracts separated out the functions of housing related Support from Housing Management and it was felt that a single specialist team was necessary to ensure that we acted consistently with the differing contracts and their requirements.

The main aims of the Housing Management Team are :-

  • To undertake all housing management functions legally, fairly and safely
  • To provide a cost effective housing management service for the Society
  • To provide out-of-Hours Security to our services

Housing Management Team Core Tasks

The housing management team are responsible for the housing management for tenants in all of our properties. The core housing management duties include: Void Management, Tenancy Sign Up, Rent Management, Dealing with Maintenance Issues, Health and Safety, and Security.

The Housing Management Team has made it easier for you to report any emergency, non emergency, and maintenance issues. You can also report Anti Social Behaviour and any other issues that may arise.

You can now Text any non emergency issues to 60777 (24hr – 7 days a week) and start your text with the word “fix”
Include your name and address and details of the issue.
These can be maintenance issues or general housing related matters.
You will receive an automatic reply and the team guarantees to address your concerns within 3 working days.

The Operational Security Team will be monitoring these texts over night and will react promptly to any issues that require immediate attention.
