The Society of St James has teamed up with Southampton FC’s Saints Foundation to provide Saints4Sport, a sports, fitness and education service for people in Southampton who are vulnerable due to drug or alcohol addiction, homelessness, or mental health problems.
Saints4Sport provides free daily leisure activities, which help people to improve their quality of life, physical and mental health, and self-esteem. Saints4Sport also creates pathways into volunteering, education and employment.
Saints4Sport is funded by the Big Lottery Fund, and helps people like Colin to turn their lives around:
|Mon||Boxing at Millbank Boxing Centre, Shamrock Quay||1.00pm-2.30pm|
|Tue||Gym / swimming at The Quays Leisure Centre||10am – 12noon (or meet at the DIP at 9.30am)|
|Wed||Kickboxing at Wu Tan Martial Arts Centre||11am – 12noon|
|Thurs||Gym / swimming at The Quays Leisure Centre||10am – 12noon (or meet at the DIP at 9.30am)|
|Thurs||5-a-side at Goals Soccer Centre||2.00pm – 4.00pm (or meet at the DIP at 1.30pm)|
|Fri||Golf: Driving Range, Pitch and Putt and 9 Hole||11.30am-1.30pm|
The qualifications on offer include:
- Level One NVQ in Coaching (Football Association)
- TWICS (Training for Work in Communities) Gym, Health and Fitness
- ASDAN Fishing Qualification
- ASDAN Introduction to Fishery Management
Saints4Sport now offers a range of work placement schemes and courses to help people take the big step back in to work. Our current opportunities include:
