The Alcohol Service

Our residential heavy drinkers houses offer the support needed to maintain long-term health prospects.

The Alcohol Service provides supported housing to adults with histories of long-term, chronic alcohol misuse. Through managed drinking, improved nutrition and access to other healthcare services, the service enables their long-term health prospects and quality of life to improve.

The support we offer

The Alcohol Service is made up of three shared houses, which are staffed 7 days per week (not 24 hours). Each resident has their own detailed support plan which highlights their medical needs, the aspects of their daily lives that they need the most support with, and their own aspirations for their future. Staff support each individual to achieve specific targets in relation to their drinking and other aspects of their daily lives.

How do service users access the service?

Access to the service is through referral from partner agencies including the Alcohol Advisory Service and the General Hospital. On receipt of a referral form the project leader carries out an assessment with the prospective resident, which may include a visit to the project, to establish which of the projects is most appropriate.

How do referring agencies access the service?

Referring agencies need to submit a completed referral form to the Project Leader.
