St James Care

Support

St James Care (formerly known as Avondale) offers a specialist residential care  environment for people over the age of 50 who have severe alcohol dependency problems and/or mental health problems. St James Care allows individuals to continue to drink if they so wish, but this is managed through controlled drinking and money contracts, which ensure that the individual is not drinking to dangerous levels. This has resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of life and major improvements in the physical and mental health of our residents.

We encourage our residents to participate in a range of activities and events. St James Care has excellent facilities, including a fully equipped modern kitchen, ample communal space and a beautiful rear garden with a sunny outlook, raised flower beds, a vegetable plot and several beautiful wooden decked seating areas.

Staffing

St James Care is staffed 24 hours per day by a team of dedicated, experienced Support and Care Workers who provide personal care, emotional support and companionship. Each resident has a personal care plan detailing their specific needs and how the individual would like these needs to be met. We endeavour to ensure that ensure that all our residents have as much involvement in the development of their care plan as possible, but of paramount importance is ensuring that their needs are met safely and appropriately.
