30 Hours per Week
Salary Scale: 16-18 = £17,363 – £18,125 per annum (to be pro-rated for part-time positions)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 40 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. An exciting opportunity has opened for a Support Worker at SSJ’s Homeless Day Services. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated enthusiastic and creative person to join our friendly team, someone with really strong communication skills and understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable clients.
You would be joining our friendly team dedicated to providing clients with a safe environment in which to build their confidence, promote opportunities for positive change and support their recovery journey. You will be working in a role that includes weekends and bank holidays.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have relevant knowledge and experience of working with rough sleepers, those with complex social needs and people at risk of becoming homeless, who may be experiencing substance misuse difficulties and mental health problems. Excellent knowledge of substance misuse, homelessness legislation, benefits and mental health is imperative.
You would have excellent communication skills to be able to communicate across the organisation in a professional, but approachable manner and have the ability to work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative. You will be highly motivated and able to demonstrate your ability to work in person-centred way, enabling clients to meet their needs. You would have good understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding as well as good grasp of data protection, confidentiality and IT.
