Salary Scale: 10-12; £14,083 – £15,265 (pro rata)

A vacancy has arisen within the specialist team at St James Care for a Support Worker.
You will be responsible for supporting the provision of a consistently high level of care and support to residents with complex needs, severe alcohol dependency and mental health problems. You will encourage residents to live their lives as independently as possible and ensure that they are able to exercise their right to make choices and decisions for themselves regarding their preferred lifestyle while ensuring that their safety and wellbeing are not jeopardised.
A good working knowledge of the Care Quality Commission Regulations and Standards is essential as well as experience and knowledge of the needs of older vulnerable people, mental health, alcohol and substance misuse and health and safety.
An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or similar, or willingness to undertake NVQ Level 3 is essential for this post.
NB: Some staff within The Society are ‘at risk’ of redundancy.

Relief Worker
Domiciliary Home Support Service
£6.90/£8.00 per hour
Up to 40 hours per week, over 7 days.
Relief Work
You will provide support for vulnerable people living independently in the community. The client group often includes people with alcohol and substance misuse issues and/or mental health problems. We offer each client an individually tailored package of care, which includes social and emotional support, personal care (bathing etc.), help with paying bills, debt management and support with domestic and home maintenance tasks.
The successful applicants will have had experience of working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviour, and will be sensitive to the needs of this client group. An ability to think quickly, communicate well and take appropriate action to manage risk is essential, as you will sometimes be working alone in the community.
This is an essential car users post and you will require business use on your insurance.
Minimum Qualification required: NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
